No fewer than 16 lives were killed and over 40 were wounded when attackers fired on a Hanukah event at Bondi Beach, a tragedy local authorities have labeled a terrorist attack.
In the latest update, officials have announced the death toll remains at 16, which includes one of the suspected gunmen. Additionally, 42 wounded individuals were taken to hospital.
Those who died have not yet been officially identified, but authorities state their ages span from 10 and 87 years of age.

Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Described as a father of five children, he was the associate rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Family members and acquaintances spoke of him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman was also confirmed among the deceased, according to his wife.
She recounted the moments before the shooting, saying they had been standing together when the shooting erupted. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she recalled.
The couple were both Holocaust survivors, having faced unspeakable terror in their childhood. They had later immigrated to Australia from Ukraine.
French authorities have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
In a statement, the Foreign Minister declared that France mourned with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This cowardly attack is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the message continued.
A young girl, aged 10 who was rushed to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, authorities stated.
A national of Israel was among those killed in the incident, according to reports referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Of the 42 people taken to hospital, many remain under care, with several in a critical state. The injured include two police officers who attended the scene.
A casualty is a bystander who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Called a local hero, he received bullet wounds but is expected to recover in hospital.
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. It has been reported he was wounded and is receiving treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the scene as an “utter carnage,” but also noted the response of those who rushed to help. He stated he believed it was a “miracle” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was another casualty in the attack. He described he heard “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I’ve been shot myself. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
