Ukrainian Forces Launches Mass Production of Novel Interceptor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. The first three manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven preparing to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Situations

These UAVs utilize a nationally created technology called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and proved successful “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Assault on Kyiv Described as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” after six individuals were killed and many others wounded in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems activated in the capital just after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president stated the country was targeted by 430 drones and multiple missiles. The deceased had been inside their residences in a block of flats on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures sustained damage, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection After Embassy Destruction

The Azerbaijani government announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador this past Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. Russian forces have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs per day, with last month’s average daily usage being approximately 170, based on official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Oil Facilities

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments on Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Restrictions Impact Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil said on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties regarding its foreign assets following recent sanctions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Zelenskyy Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, Madrid, next Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies announced. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from both chambers of parliament during his visit, the Spanish statement said.
