Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is unclear and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
