19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 initial break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
